1986 - Michael Jackson gave $1.5 million to set up the "Michael Jackson
UNCF Endowed Scholarship Fund”, aimed at students majoring in performance art
and communications, with money given each year to students attending a member
United Negro College Fund college or university. The scholarship has helped
hundreds of students attend college.
January 27, 1986 - Michael appears on the "13th Annual American Music Awards",
accepting the "Song of the Year Award" with Lionel Richie for "We Are the
World"; he later accepts the "Award of Appreciation".
February 9, 1986 - Michael's interview with Ed Bradley for the "60

California camp for children undergoing cancer treatment, to his home,

July 30, 1986 - Michael attends the funeral of film director Vincente
Minnelli with his daughter Liza & Widow Lee held at Forest Lown in Glendale,
California.
August 8 or 9, 1986 - Michael attends a classical concert of conductor Leonard
Bernstein with Philharmonic orchestra; he then attends a dinner with Leornard
Bernstein at musician David Pack's home.
August 20-22, 1986 - Michael attends one of the reunion concerts of Frank
Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. in Los Angeles, California, at the Greek Theatre; he
attends an after-party with Sophia Loren, meeting with actors Tom Selleck,
Elizabeth Taylor, and Liza Minnelli.
~August 22, 1986 - Michael sends a message to actor Corey Feldman to
congratulate his work on the "Stand by Me" film, which is released today.
Director Rob Reiner had originally reached out to Michael to record a song for
the film, but director Rob Reiner ultimately decided to go with an all-50s
soundtrack.

Jones and the team at Westlake Recording Studios to start recording his next

Beekman Theatre in NYC.
November 19-29, 1986 - Michael films a 16 minutes video for the song
'Bad' directed by Martin Scorsese and featuring Wesley Snipes. Scenes are
filmed in Dobbs Ferry, a tiny hamlet in upstate New York and in a subway of
Brooklyn . The song and video tell the story of Daryl, a black youth from the
ghetto who returns home from his private school. Quincy Jones & Sean
Lennon visit Michael on the set. He also shoots for his album cover.
December 14, 1986 - Michael attends a presentation by the American
Friends Of The Hebrew University where director Steven Spielberg receives the
"Scopus Award".
December 18, 1986 - Michael's short interview for "Citizen Steve", a tribute
film for director Steven Spielberg's 40th birthday, starring actors John Candy
and Dan Aykroyd, is given to Spielberg.
December 19, 1986 - Michael attends a performance of "Little Shop of
Horrors".
