February 8, 1983 - Michael attends the BPI Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel, in London, England, accepting the "British Album of the Year" award on behalf of Barbara Streisand for her "Memories" album; he also visits his friend Mark Lester.

February 25, 1983 - Michael accepts a Platinum certification for his "Thriller" album from actress Jane Fonda; he also interviews with "Entertainment Tonight", discussing the public's response to his album, writing songs, his fans, being on stage, and his inspirations.

March 1983 - Michael invites musician Thomas Dolby to meet at his home, and they discuss music production techniques, their childhoods, and favorite albums.

March 9-10, 1983 - Michael shoots for his "Beat It" music video / short film. During filming, Michael interviews with "Ebony/JET Celebrity Showcase", discussing fear off stage, Encino home renovation, and classical music. He gives a questionnaire for "Creem" magazine, discussing origins of rock and roll, art, staying away from drugs and alcohol, working, discipline, loneliness, and film.

March 13, 1983 - Michael's interview with "America's Top 10", discussing his feeling at home on stage, magic, and being thankful for being a songwriter, airs.

March 20, 1983 - Michael attends the opening night party of the stage show Dreamgirls with LaToya.

March 24, 1983 - Michael rehearses for his Motown 25 "Billie Jean" solo performance in his kitchen.

March 25, 1983 - Michael attends Motown 25 and performs a Jackson 5 medley with his brothers, and wows the audience when he performs "Billie Jean" and debuts his moonwalk. The world won't know of his legendary performance until May 16 when it will be watched by 47 million. Less than 2 weeks before this, Berry Gordy had convinced Michael to perform.

Late March 1983 - Michael and the Jacksons record a message for their fanclub "Jacksons World Club", thanking fans, discussing a planned album and tour, and Motown 25. He also records an ad-libbed "Surprise Song" with the Jacksons.

~April 1983 - Michael works on a "Peter Pan" film script and songs for a period of six months for a planned project with director Steven Spielberg.

April 16, 1983 - Michael and Tunisian actor Samir Kamoun pays tribute to Charlie Chaplin on the anniversary of Chaplin's birthday.

August 20, 1983 - Michael attends the "James Brown and B.B. King: One Special Night" concert in Los Angeles, Calfornia at the Beverly Theater; James Brown invites Michael on stage to sing and dance, and Michael asks Brown to invite new artist Prince to the stage.

September 1983 - Michael meets singer and musician Joe Cocker.

October 4-5, 1983 - Michael films the "Say Say Say" music video/short film in Santa Ynez Valley, California, with cameo appearances by LaToya Jackson & Linda McCartney. One of these evenings, Michael meets a fan at Michael's hotel pool in Solvang, California while babysitting James McCartney, Paul McCartney's son.

October 11-27, 1983 - Michael films his Thriller short film in Los Angeles, directed by John Landis.

November 11, 1983 - Michael and his brothers signed a $5 million deal with Pepsi Cola to sponsor their Victory Tour.

November 21, 1983 - Michael attends a private screening of "Thriller" and receives a gold record in Westwood, California. Around this time, Michael meets the

November 1983 - Michael invites young R&B group New Edition at the Encino home to discuss dancing; he screens the "Thriller" short film for them before the official release.

November 1983 - May 1984 - Michael records "Torture" as a duet with Jermaine; the rest of The Jacksons perform background vocals.

***December 1983 - Michael visits the Hotel Royal Plaza in Disney World to dedicate the opening of their "Michael Jackson Suite"; chef Larry Banares is hired to prepare meals with Michael's personal chef Mani Khalsa during his stays at the suite. Michael also records demos at nearby Bee Jay Studios during his stays.
