August 29, 1965 - Michael and the Jackson brothers perform in "Tiny Tots' Back-to-School Jamboree", a children's fashion event in Gary, Indiana, at the Big Top shopping center; Evelyn LaHaie, the commentator for the event, comes up with the new name of "The Jackson Five" and announces them as such for the first time.

1965 - Two months after winning the Roosevelt High Talent Show, they perform in Annual Talent Search at Gilroy Stadium where they perform 'Barefootin'; they receive their first ever press article in the Gary Post Tribune after winning first place.
