“Unbreakable”

“After a brief stay in New York, Michael moved the final few weeks of production to the warmer climes of Miami… Jerkins brought two new songs to the table, ‘Unbreakable’ and ‘Threatened’... In June 2001, after close to four years of anticipation, delays and infighting, Michael finally decided to stop recording new music and wrap up production.” (Mike Smallcombe, “Making Michael”)

Michael Jackson, “Getmusic.com” interview

Anthony DeCurtis (Getmusic.com): Now Slimslady420US sends in a question and wonders "which song on the Invincible album do you think you personally relate to the most?"

Michael: Ummm, Unbreakable.

Getmusic: Talk a bit about that track. Now you mentioned it a couple of times, I'm getting really curious about it. Could you... What could you tell us about it?

Michael: 'Cause I'm one of the few people, probably, in show business, that have been through the ins and outs of so many different things. I've been through hell and back. I have to be honest, and still I'm able to do what I do and nothing can stop me. No one can stop me, no matter what. I stop when I'm ready to stop. I'm just saying I will continue to move forward no matter what.

“TV Guide” (November 10, 2001)

TVG: What's the message of "Unbreakable", the first song on the album?

MJ: That [I'm] invincible, that I've been through it all. You can't hurt me. Knock me down, I get back up.
