Michael Jackson, Ed Begley, Jr., and The Jim Henson Company will be among the illustrious honorees at the 'Third Annual Power of Oneness Awards' to be held November 15th at the Universal Studios Hollywood Globe Theater in California.
Michael Jackson will receive 'The Power of Oneness Lifetime Achievement Award' for his lifelong commitment to writing, singing and speaking about the need for us to take responsibility for the world's children and making our world a better place. 'Man In The Mirror', 'Heal The World', 'Black Or White', 'Lost Children', 'We Are The World' and 'What More Can I Give' are but a few of the inspiring songs Michael has recorded during his career, showing by example how music can be used to entertain, heal and educate.
'The 2003 Power of Oneness Awards' ceremony will be preceded by a dinner & silent auction; items for auction have been donated by Universal Music, Michael Jackson, Carlos Santana, artist Romero Britto, Tiffany & Co., and many more. The awards program (written and directed by off-Broadway playwright and choreographer, Kamal Sinclair-Steele) promises to be a vibrant fusion of dance, music, multimedia, spoken-word and theatrical presentations representing a vivid celebration of the creativity and diversity of the human family -- a celebration of our oneness.
Michael Jackson, video message transcript
I feel very privileged to be the recipient of this special Oneness honour. I believe that all people living together in unity is one of the most important messages we can teach our children. “What More Can I Give” is just an example for the world of how beautiful the world can be and what a beautiful place it can be. Sorry, I have the hiccups. [Smiles] I have to be honest. I would like to thank, personally, K. C. Porter and the staff members of Oneness, whose work on “What More Can I Give” and the Spanish version “Todo Para Ti” has been invaluable. “I love you… and thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. And I’m sorry about the hiccups. Thank you so much. I love you.
