"Stranger in Moscow" Music Video / Short Film

Date range is assessed by the facts that Adrian Grant confirmed he was on the set July 5, 1996 in his “Visual Documentary”, and there is a timecode for July 2, 1996 (“07-02-96”) in behind the scenes footage. Shooting would be complete before July 13 when he arrives in Brunei.

Nick Brandt, director, Black or White Magazine interview (Google translation of German translation)

Black or White: In 1996 we were part of the shooting of the Stranger clip in Moscow, where we met. What are your memories of the film?

Nick Brandt: There are many. But the one that comes to mind now is when Michael sings under the artificial rain in front of the bluescreen. As he sang, he stamped his foot on the ground. But so strong that the artificial asphalt under his feet broke! He destroyed the scenery.

Black or White: How did the clip come about?

Nick Brandt: I suggested to Michael an idea and he accepted it. That always went like this. I suggested him a single idea, and if he had not liked it, I would have had no other. So I was very lucky to have worked with him so often.

Black or White: What did these videos cost?

Brant: Stranger in Moscow cost $1.8 million.
