Mike Smallcombe, “Making Michael”
In October Michael filmed a video for ‘Earth Song’ in the town of Warwick, New York, where a safe forest fire was simulated in a corn field. The video, which cost $2.6 million, has an environmental theme, featuring images of animal cruelty, deforestation, pollution, poverty and war. Before Michael filmed his parts, director Nick Brandt and his team travelled as far as the Amazon basin, Africa and Croatia to shoot scenes over a six-week period.
