Rome Arrival
Bob Jones, publicist, "Black Radio Exclusive" magazine (July 22, 1988)
Rome—We arrived on Thursday, May 19, and attended a reception held in Michael's honor at American Embassy—a lovely 8-acre estate with beautiful gardens. It was hosted by Ambassador and Mrs. Max Rabb and Sophia Loren, Gina Lollobrigida, Federico Fellini, and Franco Zefferelli were among the guests. Michael's three sold-out shows at the Stadio Flaminio attracted 45,000 each night. After the first show, CBS Records International hosted a sumptuous sit-down buffet for 500 guests. Leaving Rome, we drove to Florence, where Michael enjoyed the historic beauty of the city and visited the museum to see Michaelangelo's masterpiece sculpture of "David".
