Las Vegas Walk of Fame

Nate Sanders auction listing (archived)

Jackson pressed his hand and feet into concrete in what was meant to become part of the Las Vegas Walk of Fame Project. Jackson, along with other celebrities, took part in placing his footprints, handprint and stylized autograph in wet cement. Yet the Las Vegas Walk of Fame Project failed to materialize. The endeavor ended in 1984, and the autographed stone of Jackson’s imprints went into storage in the Riviera Hotel’s basement in Las Vegas, where it remained concealed for almost 21 years, hidden from the world as Jackson’s career continued to thrive for over two decades. The cement measures roughly 30″ x 30″ and is 4.5″ thick and weighs roughly 500 pounds. Lot also includes a photo of a smiling Jackson with his shoes in the cement that was later made into a promotional poster.

Mark Sterbens, letter of authenticity for above auction listing

I am the former President and Chief Operating Officer of the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. In June of 1984 I assisted Michael Jackson with the imprints of his hand, footprints and signature.

That is definitely me in the photo with Michael Jackson.

I wanted the record to be accurate validating the event.
