"Rock & Soul" Magazine Interview
"Rock & Soul" magazine (January 1979), from Chris Cadman’s “Michael Jackson the Maestro” (article summary/quotes)
“I want to make my acting debut on TV. Television is great. It’s the biggest audience in the world”
“I was supposed to be in “Roots” but they taped the show when we taped ours so I couldn’t do it. I would have loved to be in that because I want to be in a TV event, rather than a motion picture.”
This statement from Michael opened the article, which was part of Rock & Soul “The Wiz” Report.
But it would be The Wiz where he would make is debut, confessing he always wanted to do a musical.
Michael speaks of looking forward to living in New York while filming The Wiz.
“I’m looking forward to living in New York. I can’t wait. I’m going to see every play on Broadway.”
At the same time sister Janet was getting ready to star in “Good Times” and brother Randy was scheduled to co-star in “Michelangelo And Me” with Ernest Borgnine.
