Letters sent to Michael for this weeks published magazine of Valentine was for information on the Jackson 5 tours.

What was the reaction like in the different countries they visited? First Australia:

“Everywhere we played was just like when we were in England last, the fans were great and we sold out in all the places. The most popular costume we wore was white trimmed with silver – one of my favourites – and if I haven’t grown out of it I’ll be wearing mine here in England.”

Randy made Michael and Jermaine laugh during one interview. The reporter was jotting down notes as she was interviewing him, when he suddenly looked over and asked her if she was writing in Australian, which cracked Michael and Jermaine up with laughter. Randy also found a girlfriend while in Australia named Serena. Unfortunately he sadly had to say goodbye to her when they left.

In Japan the response to the Jackson 5 was more reserved.

“The tour of Japan was great fun although the fans there are a lot quieter than everywhere else. I think they still appreciate our music but just in a gentler sort of way.”

Michael said the Japanese also showed their gratitude by throwing flowers. As a gift for them to take home the group were presented with specially made Kimonos.

On the way home from Japan they threw a little party on the plane for their mothers birthday.
