"Tina" Magazine Interview

Date range of publication confirmed in Chris Cadman’s “Michael Jackson the Maestro”

“Tina” magazine (August 18, 1973), from Chris Cadman’s “Michael Jackson the Maestro” (article summary/quotes)

With the school summer holidays taking place in the UK during the period this article was published, the editors asked Michael what he would be doing on his summer’s break.

The article portrayed a young man with the same tastes as any normal teenage person. Michael

loved playing basketball with his brothers, spending time on two of his favourite past times, swimming and drawing, in addition to playing with his mice.

“I’ve got one that has a habit of disappearing in my clothes somewhere, crawling out of my sleeve of my shirt when he wants some air.”

Michael said in summer he also likes eating hot food, one being Mexican. Ironically he found it easier to eat hot food in the summer than any other time.

Shopping for nice summer clothes was also a favourite past time of Michael’s. But when it was too hot for that it was off to the beach.

“I like long empty beaches where I can be on my own for a while – just walking, looking out to sea and thinking about things, usually girls!”
