We’ve had so many letters in asking about the J5 and Michael in particular that we thought there was only one person to answer all your queries – Michael himself. So here he is!

How come every time somebody asks whether you have a steady girlfriend you say you don’t have one?

“Well, first of all because it’s the truth! I have lot of girls who are friends to me but I don’t have a steady girl.”

Do you like being kissed?

“I guess that would depend on who’s kissing me!”

Are your parents really strict with you and your brothers?

“No, they’re not really strict but they have a way of telling us to do certain things and we know we’d better obey them.”

Is it true that you don’t like fat girls? Some fat girls are nice.

“It’s not that I don’t like fat girls but I do prefer girls who are slender.”

What’s your favorite food?

“I like lots of different food but I guess you could say I like Mexican foods best.”

What don’t you like about being a big star?

“Well one thing I don’t like too much are hotels. I’d prefer to stay anywhere else other than hotels.”

When is your birthday?

“August 29th.”

What do you like to do in your spare time?

“I do a lot of things. I like to watch television. I like to draw a lot. I also like to mess around with my camera taking pictures and developing them.”

Do you ever get tired of being an entertainer?

“Not really, sometimes I get tired of certain things you have to do but I love entertaining people and making them happy.”

Which one of your brothers do you hang around with most of the time?

“I spend a lot of time with Randy and Marlon.”

How did you get started in show business?

“We used to be in a lot of talent shows when we lived in Gary, Indiana. We kept on practising all the time until we got to a high standard. And then when Diana Ross saw us perform she thought we were real good and she brought us to Motown and we’ve been performing ever since.”

Do you ever get scared when you step on stage and all those girls start screaming and try to grab you?

“I don’t get too nervous about going on stage. And as far as the girls screaming and everything. I’m used to it now and it doesn’t scare me.”

Do you think you’ll ever get married?

“I’m certainly too young now but maybe someday I will. I don’t even think about that now ’cos it seems such a long way off.”

What colour are yours eyes? Sometimes it’s difficult to tell whether they’re black or brown.

“My eyes are dark brown.”

Your older sister has a baby. How do you like being an uncle? Do you want the baby to call you “Uncle”?

”Yeah, my sister Maureen is married and has a baby. I don’t feel any older or anything ‘cos I’m an uncle. And right now the baby’s too young to call me anything, but if he just calls me by my first name that’ll be okay.”

Where do you live in Hollywood or Beverly Hills?

“We live in Encino, California, which is very near Hollywood.”

Do you want to be a solo singer?

“I want to continue singing with my brothers. I’m not interested in going out singing on my own without my brothers.”

Are you going to become an actor?

“I’d love to do some acting. I think it would be fun, but right now I’m more concerned about my singing career.”
