In Spec magazine November 1970, both Mark Lester and Michael explained why they weren’t too young to start dating.

Michael explained that it wasn’t about giving a girl a ring, but to share ideas and hopes. He said he wouldn’t like a girl not to be able to have other friends, or she him.

He wouldn’t mind his girl having a soda with another guy who was a friend. It would give them something to share and talk about.
